Phillips Watches Will Present A Superb Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ‘Jumbo’ for Auction
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak made its debut at Basel World in 1972, marking the genesis of the luxury sports watch industry that you know today. It caused an incomparable sensation because the watch industry picked out a wristwatch like the Royal Oak for the first time.
When Audemars Piguet introduced the Royal Oak in 1972, it was the most expensive wristwatch available in stainless steel. The watchmaker equipped the timepiece with the ultra-slim Calibre 2121. Interestingly, this movement was developed based on the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 920, which later powered the Patek Philippe Nautilus.
Today, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak is one of the most iconic watches globally. And its early iterations are extremely popular and coveted. Now:
Phillips Watches is presenting a splendid Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ‘Jumbo’ at its Geneva Watch Auction XIII. This Reference 5402ST B-Series watch is in original condition and has minimal signs of wear. The auction will be held on May 8th and 9th in Geneva, Switzerland.
